
Take on a hike and help Macmillan
Every year, thousands of Mighty Hikers gather across the UK at one of 12 beautiful destinations to walk a half or full marathon as part of Macmillan’s annual fundraising event, Mighty Hikes. Taking part is an opportunity to raise money to help Macmillan provide vital support for the 3.5 million people in the UK living with cancer.
Since 2015 Macmillan Mighty Hikes has raised over £70 million to help people living with cancer. By signing up to do a Macmillan Mighty Hike you make a pledge to raise £250 to help Macmillan provide vital cancer services, research and campaign to achieve better cancer care.

Macmillan Mighty Hikes: What kind of walker are you?
From majestic mountains to gentle river trails, there’s a Mighty Hike to suit everyone – and all kinds of walkers are welcome. Whether you’re a regular rambler or a rookie, you’ll be supported every step of the way, from the moment you sign up to the moment you cross the finish line.
How does Macmillan support you on a Mighty Hike?
- Getting started: Sign up to unlock expert training plans, kit lists, a Macmillan hiking top and fundraising resources.
- Support on route: Trek masters, clear signposting, medics and toilets along the route.
- Food for all: Regular pit stops with snacks and drinks, a fresh buffet lunch and a hot meal waiting at the finish, plus surprise Skittle stops.
- Everybody’s a winner: Celebrate at the finish line with cheers, fizz and a Mighty medal.
- Photo finish: Take home a free, professional finish-line photo to mark your achievement.

Why walk a Mighty Hike together?
Everyone receives a legendary warm welcome on a Mighty Hike. As well as joining a huge, supportive community, why not sign up as a team and share this incredible experience with friends and family? Teams of five or more automatically receive a 50% discount on the registration fee (£25 for a full marathon; £20 for a half marathon).
Each team member still has a minimum fundraising pledge of £250 per person, but pledges can be combined into a single team total.

Sound tempting? Here are some top tips for creating Team Mighty:
- Build your dream team. Aim for people with different skills – a savvy social media friend, a hiking enthusiast, an organiser – then nominate a captain to coordinate.
- Sign up together. The captain registers on behalf of the team and sends out invitations.
- Train and fundraise as one. From training plans to fundraising ideas, Macmillan has plenty of resources to help your team get organised.
